Work in Progress - Threshold
Threshold is the world’s first passive-aggressive Machine Learning Photo app.
You probably don’t, to be honest, but it offers a different perspective that some people might find interesting.
Ok, so what does it do?
Good question, the basic idea is to provide a way to encourage creative thinking through constraints in a slightly passive-aggressive manner.
Why do I need constraints, I love to have freedom of choice
True, but having too many choices can become overwhelming and we (humans) tend to retreat back to what we’re already familiar with.
Ok, so what does this app do?
A number of things - you can use it the same way as the regular camera app in IOS but stripped of all the annoying functionalities. However, through the use of Machine Learning, the app takes on different capabilities such as “Never again”.
Yes, “Never again” is a plugin which prevents the user from capturing something twice hence the name, never again.
Ok, but why can’t I make that choice myself?
You can of course but the point is to bring back a sense meaning to the moment right before an image is captured.
By only being able to capture something once that moment becomes more precious. Something that anyone who has ever used an analog camera can probably relate to.
Alright, and then there’s a second plugin?
Yes, It’s called “Daniel Castro” and once you enable the plugin it prevents you from capturing an image of
Who’s Daniel Castro?
Good question, it’s a good friend of mine.
What has he done to get involved in all of this?
It’s nothing to do with him personally, it could be anyone really, the point is that in today's digital society we exist through images, so what happens over time if a person stops appearing in photographs.
So where can I download this “app”
